- 1 ball pizza dough
- ⅓ cup pizza sauce
- 3 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
- 2 basil leaves
- Semolina flour or cornmeal, for dusting the pizza peel
Step 1: Preheat the Pizzello oven to 500 ℉. Roll out each piece of Pizza Dough into a 10- to 11-inch round. Transfer 1 dough to each prepared baking sheet.
Step 2: Cut the mozzarella into pieces that are 1/4 inch thick. If the fresh mozzarella is extremely wet (all brands differ), you might want to let it sit on a paper towel for about 15 minutes to eliminate moisture before dabbing the mozzarella with the paper towel to remove any remaining moisture.
Step 3: When the oven is ready, stretch the dough into a circle. Sprinkle a pizza peel with semolina flour or cornmeal, then carefully place the dough on top.
Step 4: Spread the pizza sauce across the dough. Top with mozzarella cheese. Taste a bite of the mozzarella cheese; if it does not taste salty, add a few pinches of salt to the pizza.
Step 5: Add the basil leaves on pizza. Transfer the pizza to the pizza stone on the pizza peel, then bake until the cheese is melted, about 1 minute in the Pizzello oven. Slice into pieces and serve immediately.
