Ingredients:

Here's what you'll need:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ½ tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 24 mini sandwich rolls or 12 large rolls
  • 1 pound cooked deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese, thinly sliced

Instructions:

Ham and cheese sandwich garnished with herbs on a plate with a silver spatula.

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried minced onion. Make sure everything is evenly combined.

Step 3: Separate the tops from the bottoms of the rolls. You can use a serrated knife to make this easier.

Step 4: Arrange the bottom halves of the rolls in a single layer in the prepared baking dish. Make sure they are snug against each other, filling the entire bottom of the dish.

Step 5: Layer about half of the ham on the rolls. Try to distribute the ham evenly across all the rolls.

Step 6: Add a layer of Swiss cheese on top of the ham. Again, try to distribute the cheese evenly.

Step 7: Top with the remaining ham slices.

Step 8: Place the tops of the rolls onto the sandwiches. Press down gently to ensure they are secure.

Step 9: Pour the mustard mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls. Use a spoon or brush to spread the mixture evenly, making sure it reaches all the nooks and crannies.

Step 10: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted and is bubbly.

Step 11: Let the sliders cool slightly before slicing them through the ham and cheese layers. Use a sharp knife to cut them into individual sliders.

  • You can use any type of cheese you like, such as cheddar, provolone, or mozzarella.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mustard mixture.
  • If you don't have poppy seeds, you can leave them out or substitute with sesame seeds.
  • To make ahead, assemble the sliders and store them in the refrigerator overnight. Bake them just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
